Financial and Management Accounting

The course is expected to broaden the knowledge of students on the application of financial and management accounting and its relevance to managerial decision making in business. This is to avail students with both the managerial and financial skills that are needed in the day-to-day management of a financial institution.

It is expected to enhance the working knowledge and understanding of candidates in the following areas:

  • Advanced areas of financial and management accounting apart from those already covered under accounting and business finance;
  • Requirements of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAPs);
  • Analysis and interpretation of financial statements both for internal and external users;
  • Major areas of the application of accounting information in other areas of Banking practice;
  • Specialized accounting necessary for smooth advancement in a related subject at a higher level of the Professional examination of the Institute;
  • The use of accounting information for decision making;
  • Calculations relating to Capital Budgeting
